Movies about monogamous heterosexual couples approaching middle age and experiencing intimacy crises are nothing new, yet Chernik’s script lacks urgency or originality, leaving audiences feeling like their time has been wasted. Furthermore, it smacks of hypocrisy: it shows adventurous sexual play while at the same time depicting bisexual characters (including an embarrassing scene at a kink club ).
The End of Sex is neither entertaining nor thought-provoking, failing to make its argument that long-term marriages need adventure. For a superior depiction of long-term partnerships and their joys and complications, watch Eyes Wide Shut or for something lighter try Michael Shannon Christmas Bigfoot Movie; for something funnier look toward Fever Pitch or Keeping Up With the Joneses instead.

„Sandra Bullock: American Legend” is an engaging yet sometimes tedious biopic about one of America’s most legendary women, yet still manages to deliver an empowering message about how one person can make an impactful difference in society.
Felicity Jones excels as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an influential US Supreme Court justice who advocated for equal rights for women. This film chronicles her early career – including her groundbreaking case that established gender discrimination as a constitutional violation – as well as how Ginsburg’s legal maneuvers laid the groundwork for subsequent cases protecting minorities and disabled people’s rights.
Directed by Mimi Leder and written by Ginsburg’s nephew Daniel Stiepleman, On the Basis of Sex offers a more nuanced examination of her legacy than last year’s celebratory RBG documentary. With Jones in the leading role as Ginsburg herself alongside Armie Hammer playing her husband Martin Ginsburg and Kathy Bates taking on ACLU lawyer Dorothy Kenyon — audiences should feel safe managing complex emotions and ideological disagreement.
As opposed to many films that explore sexuality, this one doesn’t shy away from depicting any kind of sexual act imaginable, including masturbation and orgasms. Yet these scenes don’t aim at tantalizing viewers; rather they’re meant to convey the importance of respect and empathy within relationships.
However, unlike typical romantic comedies, this film doesn’t fall prey to overly dramatic or manufactured orgasms; its sexual scenes instead capture an air of clinicality which complements its overall tone.
As a result, these scenes feel more authentic than most sex scenes in movies, yet aren’t entirely believable. Film director Jason Thackeray told Insider there’s „movie magic” involved in making any sex scene appear believable: choreography, camera angles, modesty garments and props combine with „movie magic” to make any sequence seem realistic; basic scenes can often be shot within two hours while longer and more elaborate ones require weeks of preparation before shooting starts.
