As a sexual addict, your sexual compulsion could easily overtake other important responsibilities and put your health in jeopardy through masturbating in public, watching pornographic material online or spending more time than necessary on websites which expose private information about yourself.
There has been an upsurge in movies exploring this issue of sexual addiction. These movies illustrate how it can have detrimental consequences on people’s lives and relationships with others.
1. I Am a Sex Addict
Sex addiction is a global health crisis affecting millions of people worldwide. This serious mental illness causes individuals to act out their sexual fantasies uncontrollably and dangerously, often without their full awareness or consent.
Compulsive behavior disorders involve repetitive and compulsive acts that can include masturbation, pornography and multiple affairs outside the person’s primary relationships – leading them to experience isolation and disconnection from others.
Understanding sex addiction as an addiction rather than a moral failing can help people overcome the disorder more successfully, particularly as these issues often present complex emotional complications which are difficult to address alone.
At times of sexual addiction, treatment from professionals specializing in this disorder is necessary in order to overcome their dependency and form healthy relationships with others. Psychotherapy offers invaluable help in breaking free of this addiction while building up healthier bonds between people.
People suffering from this disorder often feel embarrassment or shame about their behaviors, which may prevent them from caring for both their physical and mental health, as well as relationships. This embarrassment and shame may cause people to stop caring about their health as much, leading to poor physical and mental wellbeing and relationships with others.
As well, they may become increasingly absent from school or work due to their sexual habits – this could be a telltale sign of an addiction to either sexual stimulation or drugs.
Some individuals develop sexual addiction due to other mental health issues, including anxiety, depression and personality disorders. Furthermore, they may have experienced abuse or neglect when they were children.
Sex addicts often exhibit emotional or behavioral symptoms that include mood swings, impulsivity and lack of focus; this may cause them to miss work or other essential activities, increasing the chances of losing their job or worse yet death.
Remember, people undergoing recovery for this disorder will never be completely cured; rather they must learn how to overcome their addiction and manage their emotions in order to lead a life free from its damaging effects.
2. 9 Songs
Although movies dominate the porn-a-go round, music plays an integral part in people’s search for a satisfying sexual experience. A recent survey discovered that nearly one third of American adults have heard at least one song related to sexuality, not surprising when you consider many songs are written with sexuality as their theme from day one.
One of the easiest ways for beginners to figure out what works for them is simply putting themselves in situations to test various options out. There are plenty of tools out there to assist with this, from Spotify playlists and apps that make sexual encounters easy, to our upcoming guide on bedroom-friendly tracks – check back with us soon to see more!
3. I Can’t Stop Thinking About Sex
Recently, one song has become the soundtrack to many jubilant nights out over recent years. Though not my all-time favorite song, its subject matter got me in the mood for some girly fun – not alone though; many others download and sing along freely here! If this one hasn’t already caught your ear yet, give it a chance now; its lyrics don’t contain as many cliches as one might assume and the tune comes in various tempos; sing it along today if it hasn’t done already!
4. Don Jon
Don Jon, written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is an indie comedy centered on an individual with an extreme addiction to adult-themed content online, exploring how media impacts our sexuality.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Don Jon, a man deeply committed to his family, friends, church and…porn. But as his obsession becomes an addiction that affects everything else in his life — particularly relationships with women – his other commitments become compromised as his obsession continues.
As Don Jon becomes attracted to a young woman at his gym, the film quickly becomes about how porn sex affects people’s sexuality rather than about its characters themselves. Don Jon is an entertaining comedy with plenty of comic math thrown in but also plenty of heart.
Jon opens up about his sexuality when he meets Barbara (Scarlett Johansson). Gradually, Jon realizes how deeply connected they truly are; eventually though, Jon must acknowledge that his sex addiction has an adverse impact on all aspects of his life, and require help in order to end it.
Gordon-Levitt makes his directorial debut with this ambitious effort, writing and directing for himself his debut movie as writer/director and simultaneously engaging his audience through engaging characters.
Although the movie may not be perfect, it still remains entertaining and shows off Gordon-Levitt’s many talents. He shines as lead and his rapport with Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore is outstanding.
But the highlight of this movie lies in how it explores the idea of porn sex and shows how it affects people negatively; Jon views women as separate pieces, which causes him to unknowingly reject any emotional connections that might exist in real life.
The film also highlights the impact that Hollywood can have on our lives and makes us feel less than we truly are. Jon encounters Barbara who tells him how her relationships have been negatively affected by watching a series of movies which do not contain real human connections – something which applies across media – especially those featuring explicit content like porn sex movies.
