Vin Diesel looks impressively fit for someone pushing 50, especially considering he plays an extreme sports enthusiast turned National Security Agency agent. Together with his team (played by Samuel L. Jackson, Ruby Rose and Kris Wu), he utilizes gadgetry reminiscent of Bond films with thrilling stunts and large explosions to bring life to his character and the action packed film Spectre.
Xander Cage
Xander Cage, a former CIA operative and extreme athlete. Xander is also an experienced fighter who uses physical weapons against his enemies while being an excellent leader who motivates his team.
The movie revolves around Pandora’s Box, an increasingly lethal satellite-controlling gadget stolen from the CIA headquarters in New York and used by alpha warrior Xiang and his squad of deadly assassins to control its contents. As it falls into his hands, Xander becomes embroiled in an elaborate scheme that implicates global governments at every level in a conspiracy of unthinkable proportions.
„XXX: Return of Xander” is the fourth installment in the XXX franchise and features Vin Diesel returning as Xander Cage alongside an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose and Donnie Yen – as directed by D.J. Caruso who previously directed its predecessor film in 2014.
In the sequel, Xander is approached by Jane Marke, a government operative, who asks him to join her team in competing against Xiang’s dangerously powerful squad in an attempt to recover Pandora’s Box weapon. Though initially reluctant, he ultimately agrees and recruits a group of thrilling allies.
After discovering Xiang’s lair, Xander and his crew pursue him. While fighting Marke’s Marines, he taunts them to prove they don’t deserve his respect. Finally, all board a cargo plane to London where they meet Ainsley; where Xander tells her where Xiang and his gang have taken refuge.
This movie is packed with exciting action scenes, such as Xander’s fight with Xiang. Additionally, its dramatic ending reveals Pandora’s Box’s true nature; making this an engaging watch for fans of the Xxx franchise or anyone interested in adrenaline-driven thrillers alike.
Xiang
Donnie Yen (best known for his portrayal of Chirrut Imwe in Rogue One) plays Xiang, leader of the other xXx team. A martial arts legend himself, he provides some serious groin action during the movie as well as dual wielding pistols during several scenes and throwing an unpinned hand grenade toward Xander. Cage and Xiang prove an irresistible pair and engage in an exhilarating duel at a dance club!
Marke quickly tracks down Xiang and his team as they hide out in the Philippines, ordering the CIA to eliminate them all. She sends a C-5 cargo plane for collection purposes; when Xiang spots this opportunity to deploy his plan he swiftly attaches their parachutes to the cargo hold’s crate before jettisoning it, pulling violently free.
Xiang is an impressive character in the xXx universe and was an enjoyable addition to our four-K UHD/Blu-ray release of Xxxx. As an antagonist turned secondary protagonist, he refuses to let the CIA get close to his team, is an adept fighter and makes a formidable adversary for both Xander and Cage; we hope we see more of him going forward! Also included on this release are featurettes Rebels Tyrants & Ghosts: The New Breed (2:18; HD) and I Live For This Sh*t: Stunts (15:17; HD). Additionally a Gag Reel completes the package.
